About us

Our production changes week to week, season to season as we let our fungi come out of their own cycle. At the moment, we grow a few different varieties of Oyster Mushrooms and will extend to other varieties in the near future.

Zero waste
Zero waste

Most mushroom growers use plastic bags to grow them, but we recycle food grade buckets to cut the cost down and it’s also less wastage.

Natural Sunlight

We are growing them close to nature, in an open shed so the mushrooms are getting sunlight, fresh air flow and rain water.

Go Green

Our mushrooms are grown with Sawdust, which is coffee grounds and organic sugar cane multi mix. We are planning to get Organic certification soon.

Spray Free Fresh Mushrooms

Our mushrooms are grown with Sawdust, which is used coffee and organic sugar cane multi mix in recycled 10 litter food-grade plastic bucket.

Our mushrooms grow close to nature, in an open shed so they get natural sunlight, fresh air flow humidified by the rain, water them with boar/rain water.

When mushrooms are growing with sunlight, their vitamins increase. There are scientific reports pointing out that vitamin D would increase 5~7 times more compared with mushrooms grown under artificial light.

We started to grow medicinal mushrooms on logs, and it may take a year to start harvesting them!

Asa

Asa, mushroom lover

I was born in the Japanese countryside, a place of heavy snowfalls and long winters where traditional culture and wisdom of self-sufficiency still exists.

I remember the first time my father used a mercury-based weed killer on his rice field. I was only 12. All living creatures (frogs, water shrimps, dragonflies, etc) were wiped out. This event impacted me strongly, and I started questioning what had happened, which led me to research about health and environment later in life.

Healing became one of my passions (www.asay.biz). In 2012, I studied the medicinal quality of mushrooms. When I move to Samford in 2017 I finally had the necessary space to grow them, so I bought a few kits, friends shared their mycelium collections, and I started making myceliated grain.

When I was in Japan in August 2019, I dreamt that the buckets I inoculated before to go started fruiting. When I went back home they indeed had fruited but dried out. I felt so sorry, that I was not present to take care of them. They tried to let me know because we had made a connection and created a friendship. This is how I realised that cultivating mushrooms is forming interrelationship with different species.

I am humbly here to learn about nature through the Fungi world and trying to function as a bridge between nature and society. So I decided to name the project “Heart of Mushroom” because of how I connect with them – with the heart.

The bigger vision

Heart of Mushroom envisions to create an eco community where we can live in harmony with nature, using clean energy and helping each other.

Mushroom shed

Heart of Mushroom farm is part of a retreat project. Our vision is to create a Retreat/ Sanctuary/ Eco community where natural medicine, Vibrational Medicine, organic regenerative farming using clean energy are applied. We are working toward the creation of a place where we can live in harmony with nature, ourselves and helping people in need.
